The Last Pay Phone In America: Ten Things I wish the Church Knew About Homosexuality

jimmystagger:

1. If Jesus did not mention a subject, it cannot be essential to his teachings.

2. You are not being persecuted when prevented from persecuting others.
3. Truth isn’t like wine that gets better with age. It’s more like manna you must recognize wherever you are and whoever you are with.
4. You…

Perhaps the best line in a movie full of great lines.
Okay, “We went on holiday by mistake!” is probably better.

Neil deGrasse Tyson for President.

I’d vote for him but I bet the pro-Pluto faction would steal some votes.

I love this transit map.  The design is both helpful for commuters and gives a sense of the city.

Vanshnookenraggen has this amazing historic drawing—part map, part artistic rendering—of the Boston subway and elevated rail system as it existed in the mid-twentieth century (sometime between 1929, when the Ashmont-Mattapan High Speed Line opened (lower left), and 1964, when the MBTA replaced the MTA and gave the lines color designations).
Update: Mike figured out that the map must date from 1951-1955, between the opening of the Museum of Science and the Science Park Green line station.
Update 2: It’s 1954. The extension to Wonderland (lower right) opened in January 1954, but the Day Sq. station was renamed Wood Island Park (now Wood Island) in October 1954.

And then there’s, in the, in Islam…Jesus is a prophet. I didn’t realize this, but Mohammed’s top prophet, he’s top dog. And then Jesus, like second prophet, he’s like left back, in football. And Mohammed’s striker, he’s going [mimes kicking a ball] knock ‘em in the goal!
“Go, Mo! Go, Mo!”
And Jesus, like left back, “c’mon, c’mon” [mimes kicking ball] “Mo, take it up! Abraham, on the left wing!”
This is football I’m talking about here, which you call ‘bananas’, and you’re reluctant to play.

US Open Cup- Revs Defeat DC United 3-2 In Qualification

Reblog with a big “Woo-hoo!”  Too bad there was only an audio stream for coverage.

jimmystagger:

The Revs “B” team beat a basically full-strength DC team. Love it.

Kheli Dube had one of his best games since the 2009 season, scoring twice to guide the New England Revolution to a 3-2 victory against DC United Tuesday evening at the Maryland Sportsplex in a Major League Soccer US Open Cup qualifier. The victory propelled the Revolution to the final round of the eastern qualification bracket and a meeting with Sporting Kansas City on the road for a tournament berth.

If I wore this t-shirt, I wonder how many people would get the reference to this obscure movie from the 1980’s.

jimmystagger-deactivated2011092 asked: We have to find this studio and destroy it. For the children.

We could become heroes and save the world from another Rebecca Black recording.  But I fear that wealthy parents would find another way to entertain their kids’ every whim at our expense.

I do feel a  little bit bad for this girl though.  Sounds like they forgot the Autotune and used the Monotone instead.  She’s in a world of ridicule right now.
